Laptops, regardless of the reason you buy them, are very important, not only because of their monetary value but because of the data that is stored on them. Furthermore, if your laptop stops functioning properly, then the time it spends in the repair shop will be time that you can’t spend doing your work, studying or whatever it was you used the laptop for.

Here are some tips to help you keep your laptop in the best shape possible, year after year:

    1. Vent Cleaning: The vents on your laptop need to be looked at every week to make sure there is nothing blocking them or impeding their performance. You can buy a can of air at a local store and use this to clean them out, as it is best not to poke anything in them.

    2. Fan Functioning: A malfunction in the fan can lead to your laptop overheating, so make sure that your fan is working properly. Check the website of the company that made the laptop and look for software that will help you determine if the fan is working correctly.

    3. Surface: Try and use a hard surface to keep your laptop on, and avoid both your lap and pillows as this will reduce the airflow to the fans and vents, causing the laptop to heat up.

    4. Storage: Buy a good quality laptop bag or sleeve and store the laptop in this every time you turn it off. This will stop dust from getting into the laptop, as well as protect it from spills, or bumps. Make sure you only store the laptop when it is completely shut down, as putting it in a bag when it is on could make it overheat.

    5. Liquids: Keep all liquids away from your laptop at all times. If you are in the habit of drinking water while working, make sure the bottle is covered at all times. If possible keep the water bottle on a different table to avoid mishaps.

    6. Shocks: Make sure the laptop is well protected when you move it around, and always move it gently to avoid jarring it and breaking something.

    7. Humidity: Protect your laptop from humidity at all times. It can cause damage to the motherboard and the screen. Don’t use your laptop when at the beach, or outside when the weather is humid.

    8. Dust: Always protect your laptop from dust. Keep it away from open windows, put it in a storage sleeve when not in use, and every week clean the screen and keyboard with a soft cloth to remove dust.

    9. Floor: Never put your laptop on the floor for storage, as someone is undoubtedly going to step on it or put something on it, damaging it permanently.

    10. Surge Protectors: Always use a surge protector when charging your laptop to protect the battery.

These few tips should keep your laptop in good condition for years to come and enable you to get great performance from it.

Share of netbooks at PC market has rapidly grown recently. They are more often considered as a future replacement for regular laptops that used to utilize before. However there is an inherent confusion as to what exactly a netbook is and how it compares to a laptop. Undoubtedly both of them have their own advantages and shortages. In order to make your life easier when choosing between 2 gadgets we have listed below points to consider before purchasing:

Size. What you surely feel in the first instance about netbooks is their size. Netbook’s display usually ranges from 7 to 10 inches whereas laptops normally start from 14 inches. This consequently makes netbooks much smaller and lighter comparing to laptops. They are so portable that you may carry them in a purse or small backpack.

Resolution. Most of netbooks currently allow for maximum screen resolution at 1024×600. Anything below doesn’t let you to view whole width of the web page at any one time. So the user has to scroll the page back and forth to read a full line of text. However most recent netbooks are usually produced to allow 1024×600 which is ok for comfortable surfing over majority of web-sites.

Power. The smaller size of netbooks makes them much more power efficient. So you can use a netbook for 5-6 hours without recharging batteries which is about 3 times longer than your average laptop. This feature together with an increased portability puts netbooks in a category of must-have stuff for long distant travellers.

Performance. Of course a size is not the only difference between these 2 categories of gadgets. The main shortage of netbooks relates to their weaker performance specifications. Lower hard drive speed, processor speed and graphics memory apparently do not add any value to the attractiveness of netbooks. Therefore running any sort of processor-intensive jobs like graphics, footage or video modifying wouldn’t be as smooth as it used to be on laptops. Even excessive playing of videos on sites like Youtube can also slow down your netbook considerably.

Keyboard. Another major complaint about netbooks is the dimension of the keyboards. If you have large fingers, you’ll find that you spend as much time correcting typos as you do typing. Netbooks generally carry scrunched up small keyboards that are rather uncomfortable to type on, making them unsuitable for note taking.

Optical drives and connectivity. Netbooks usually do not have an optical disc drives - so that means no CDs or DVDs. Nonetheless, connectivity is a central focus for netbooks. All of them come with Wi-Fi built in and an increasing number now also have Bluetooth on board, so they can be connected wirelessly to a 3G mobile phone for internet access on the move.

Price. And the last but apparently not least point to consider is the price. Netbooks cost between $200-$500 depending on how fancy you want it and what you are using it for. The cheapest laptops start at around $400. With a low end netbook, you can get on the Internet, type and edit documents, and play some games that don’t need a lot of graphics to run smoothly. The higher end models offer more storage, more RAM, and more features.

Asus have just released some of the most unique looking laptops you will ever see, with more of their acclaimed Bamboo series.  The Asus U43F-BBA5 and Asus U43JC-BBA7 are two members of the growing Bamboo series, which was first realised a couple of years ago and is still being extended in 2010.

Both laptops can be configured with an Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 processor, with a nice speed of 2.26GHz and turbo boost also an option.  What is most striking about these laptops however is the design, with an actual bamboo construction that is certainly a refreshing change from the dozens of black and almost-black laptops that hit the shelves every month.

The Asus Bamboo laptops are not all about style however, and both models come with a nice – if somewhat similar – list of features.  They do differ in the graphics department however, with the U43F-BBA5 shipping with Intel integrated graphics and the U43JC-BBA7 shipping with Nvidia GeForce 310M 1GB with new Optimus technology and integrated Intel GPU/See asus laptop battery.

There are also minor differences between the two models in terms of their included software, with only the U43JC-BBA7 coming with Express Gate Cloud, WinFlash, MultiFrame, and LifeFrame3.  Behind these few differences are a large list of similarities, including impressive connectivity, a 14 inch LED display, and a long lasting 8-cell battery featuring Super Hybrid Engine and laptop battery technology.

What is most interesting to me with this release is how Asus are pushing the design envelope, with two laptops that manage to look retro while still pushing a number of contemporary environmental buttons.  Whether consumers take to the bamboo look will be interesting, although I suspect there are at least a few corporate types out there who are looking for a way to connect to nature without buying a wooden panel car.(ASUS A32-F2 battery)

It’s Christmas come early for anyone that follows the market, or follows the market that follows the market, as both analysts have gone into detail about who ships what and where.

Both firms put HP at the top of their best sellers charts, though Gartner said its lead was slipping a bit. Both agreed however that PC markets are strong, despite being in recovery after the economic slowdown/See a hp laptop battery.

“The PC market remains robust, and in a recovery phase, despite challenges to a broader economic recovery, such as slow job growth and a more conservative outlook in Europe and Asia/Pacific,” said Jay Chou, research analyst with IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker.

“The factors which led to the recent PC rebound - an aging commercial installed base, a proliferation of low-cost media-centric PCs, and low PC *********** through much of the world - remain key drivers going forward,” he explained.

Meanwhile, in the opposing Gartner Tower, principal analyst Mikako Kitagawa countered, “The preliminary second quarter results indicate ongoing improvement of the PC market, and it marks the third consecutive quarter of double-digit growth on a year-over-year basis.”

The top sellers lists are almost mirrored by both parties. HP has between 18 and 20 per cent market share, depending on which analysts you trust, then it’s either Dell and Dell laptop battery in second place - IDC gives it about a 13 per cent slice - or Acer, to which Gartner attributes an 11 per cent share.

Both IDC and Gartner reckon that Apple is fourth in the Australia sales market and has about 10 per cent share, proving that there is no accounting for taste.

For those who prefer performance over everything else, Dell Inspiron 1525 is the perfect choice amongst laptops available today. Dell Inspiron 1525 succeeds its cousin, Inspiron 1520, just after 6 months of the latter’s launch, of course with advanced features and a more promising performance. Now that’s called competing with oneself!

The new Dell Inspiron 1525 is lighter in weight (about a half pound lighter than Inspiron 1520), has a sleeker body (about 25% smaller than Inspiron 1520) and has added features. So if you though small is the word for Laptops, and if you have been a great fan of Dell XPS M1530, you would be in for a surprise; Dell Inspiron 1525 is smaller at 9.8 x 13.9 x 1.4 inches. The color options provided with Inspiron 1520 – jet black, ruby red, sunshine yellow, espresso brown and alpine white.

The multimedia experience becomes richer with 15.4 inch widescreen and D-SLR camera. HDMI port allows your laptop to connect to a bigger display, a feature unique and exclusive to Inspiron 1525 as compared to other Inspirons. Dell Inspiron 1525 has 4 USB ports and a fire wire port, good to take care of the peripherils and gizmos. One of the features, Dell offers a cellular modem to keep you connected even on the move. With Inspiron 1525, choices are available in Verizon’s, Sprint’s EV-DO Rev A and AT&T’s HSDPA modems, wherein you can choose if you have a preference in modems. A 2 megapixel camera on the screen adds to your internet experience.

Dell never disappoints with the processor options. And the beauty is that no matter what processor you choose, there will never be a performance mismatch. Since this system has Windows Vista Home Premium loaded, a RAM of less than 2 GB would not let the system perform to its optimum performance level. The battery life is again an added boon with approximately 4 hours of runtime.

The best part about buying a Dell is that it can be customized to the minutest of the details. So if you do not prefer the glossy screen you can opt for the standard anti glare screen. And for a little added cost you can get a color of you preference, Bluetooth, built-in wireless, integrated mobile broadband card including others.

The only drawback with the Dell Inspiron 1525 is that for the slimmer look, it had to give away the dedicated video card. Which means that with an Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (without a dedicated video card option), the usage gets limited to 2D applications.

It can be frustrating having to wait for weeks for your new laptop to be delivered. Well not any more with next day delivery laptops!

Buying a new laptop can take quite some time. There are several things that you have to do first before you commit to buying. Here are a few steps you should follow:

    * Decide whether you want to buy online or in store. Many shops will have good deals on but online web stores will give you more choice, and you can compare them far better. Online stores may also offer laptops that you can’t find in stores such as refurbished laptops.

    * Set your budget. If you know how much you are looking to spend on your laptop then it will make it easier to find the right one for you. Do remember that stores on the high street and online will offer you different ways to pay such as buy now and pay later, pay by instalments or just pay it all off straight away. These ways to pay may help your budget go a little bit further.

    * Do your research. Many people are not sure what actually makes up a computer so try to some research into what sort of processor you want, how big you need the RAM to be and most importantly what size hard drive you want. If you find a laptop that you like then why not take a look for some independent reviews on the laptops to see what others think of it. The downside of buying a laptop (from either a high street store or a website) is that you can’t try before you buy so make sure you take on board what the reviews say.

    * Finally commit to buying. Once you have found the perfect laptop for you then it is time to get paying. If using a website don’t forget to check that the online payments page is secure.

One of the perks of shopping online is that you can decide what sort of delivery you want. Many people choose next day delivery. This may be because they need it for work, it may be because they are giving it as a present or it may just be because they can’t wait! Whatever your reason is, why not choose next day delivery. There are a few websites that don’t offer next day delivery which is a shame as they lose out on so much custom. So if you are looking for a new laptop and aren’t sure where to start, just follow these rules and you won’t go far wrong!

Laptops are quite popular these days. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford one. If you are one of those people who really need one and can’t buy it, then this article is for you. It will explain to you how to get one - for free! Nearly everybody can get a free laptop online.

There are plenty of free laptop contests on the Internet. On the first glance they look suspicious, too good to be true but some of them are legitimate. If you participate in them you could win free laptop quickly.

You just need to stumble on the right contest, and to qualify for the prize. To qualify you are required to follow the program’s guidelines. You can definitely win free laptop fast and easy if you follow the guidelines and if you are persistent.

This is Why Some of These Contest Exist

This may appear shady but there is a reason why there are contests like these. Big computer manufacturers on occasion pay big money to advertisers for free laptop giveaway contests. This builds up the brand of the company big time. It also benefits the customers. Sometimes, the giveaways turn into the win free laptop contest that you see online.

How to Participate in the Win Free Laptop Contests

Generally, to participate in the contests you would need to fill out a simple form, requesting your email address. You need to make sure that you enter a legitimate e-mail address so that you can participate. You should not worry about giving away this kind of information, if the site seems legit. If you are paranoid about your information you could use separate email for the contests. This way your personal e-mail address will not jumble with the participation messages you will receive from the contests.

Typically, when you see these type of contests you shouldn’t be indecisive. It might be a good idea to roll in. You will loose nothing and you could win free latop!

If you have already tried searching online for win free laptop you may have faced the same problem as me, there aren’t a lot of web sites that offer the laptops for free. Many of them are on paid contracts and it is not hundred percent free like they say. However, there are some legitimate limited time contest. You just need to find the right contest and jump in. Alienware Area 51 – M7700 - The Dream

Flashback year 2006, everyone in the computer world got stunned as Alienware unveiled their new breed of customizable gaming laptop, the Alienware Area 51. Back then, this gaming laptop was hands down every gamers’ dream for a gaming laptop. If not for its steep price back then, everyone would probably work double jobs just to get their hands on this formerly jaw-dropping gaming notebook – including myself.

What more could a gamer ask for in a gaming laptop? What game or 3d application do you think would not be running without a snag on the Alienware Area 51 M7700’s 3.8 GHz of hyper threading raw processing power provided by Intel’s Pentium 4 processor? Add Nvidia’s GeForce 7800 GTX with 256mb of dedicated memory for stunning visuals. Not to mention its 4 GB of PC5300 DDR 2 of ram. And of course, nobody with a right mind would settle for less than 7200 rpm for a hard drive given you already have all the previously mentioned top performing specs. Definitely not I!

Oh well, those were the days when all I could do is daydream on getting my hands on the world’s best gaming laptop. Luckily for me, the time for daydreaming is over. Even with our present economic challenges, I have managed well enough to be able to finally get myself the gaming laptop that I deserve.

Dilemma to get Alienware Area 51 - M7700

Ok. Now here is the funny part. I finally got enough cash to splurge on my dream gaming laptop right? So shopping I tried to do. And guess what? Alienware does not sell my dream no more! How ironic. How ironic indeed. I guess my dream will have to remain a dream for a little bit longer – Oh yes! I definitely am not giving up on this baby!

After countless hours trying to get quality information from Alienware’s customer support on how I could get my hands on the Alienware Area 51 M7700, I gave up on the Alienware’s horrific customer service and I took a step back to assess what options I got left in getting what I have dreamed of.

Then it hit me. EBay! There, I finally found one Alienware Area 51 M7700! Right then and there, I almost purchased it outright specially with it’s less than $ 1,000 price tag. Lucky for me I did not let my emotions get the better of me. I checked on the details of the unit being sold by this EBay seller. It does look like it’s in excellent condition; I will give the unit that. However, the configured specs are a little low for my taste. And the worst part? No option for a warranty! Oh no! Definitely not going with that one now. Not unless I want to end up going bald for issues that might arise after buying the rig.

    The Solution

Just when things seemed too dark, a light shined at service.ztronics.com. They had some of the few Alienware Area 51 M7700 left on the planet. And not just that. There units are configured even better than how I dreamed it should be years back. And the best part? They have a 1 year warranty as an option. Need I say more?

At long last, I’m off gaming with what the critics and gamers alike dubbed as the best gaming laptop for months on end. All thanks to everyone at service.ztronics.com specially their top-notch customer service!

Laptop systems have grown in popularity due to their increasing performance and portability. Many systems are even now being marketed as replacements for desktop systems but few can perform at the same level as a desktop system particularly when it comes to graphics. This guide will help you to look at some of the key items you want to look at before you purchase your next PC laptop system. acer laptop battery

    Size and Weight

Obviously the size and weight of a laptop is important. Netbooks offer light weight and sizes but sacrifice items such as drives and performance. Desktop replacements have equivalent power to desktop systems but they are heavy and bulky making them difficult to carry around. When shopping for a laptop, make sure to pick up the systems and verify its something you are willing to carry. Don’t forget to also consider the weight of accessories such as AC adapter when carrying around the laptop. dell laptop battery

    Processors (CPU)

Mobile processors typically were slower than desktop CPUs but that has changed. Dual-core processors are common and help with multitasking. The type of processors found in the laptop will vary based upon the size and purpose of the laptop. They have a direct impact on performance as well as battery life so comparison can be difficult. Check out my listings for suggested processors for the various types of laptop PCs available.

    Memory (RAM)

Laptops are generally more restricted in the amount of memory they can have compared to desktops. When looking at computers you want to make sure to check out the maximum memory the system can handle as well as the amount that is installed in the computer. It is also useful to find out if a memory upgrade can be done yourself or if it has to be done by a technician. Two gigabytes should really be the minimum amount of memory to consider with 4GB for improved performance.

    Displays and Video

The video on a laptop computer is comprised of the display and the video processor. The display is defined by the screen size and the native resolution. The larger the display, the higher the resolution will typically be, but it also will impact how portable the system is. Wide screen displays are now standard. The graphics processor will determine the performance of the computer in things such as 3D graphics and high definition video acceleration. compaq laptop battery

    Drives

How much storage space will you need? Hard drives are fairly straight forward in terms of the size and the performance may be impacted by the rotational speed. Optical drives play a more important role when purchasing a laptop PC. DVD burners are pretty much a standard feature supporting the dual layer media. Direct labeling features such as Label Flash and LightScribe are available. Blu-ray is available for viewing high definition video but are still fairly uncommon.

    Networking

The ability to connect to the net is integral to most laptops today. Look for systems that include a built in Fast Ethernet and Wi0Fi. For the minimum amount of wireless connectivity, look at getting a notebook with 802.11b/g. Systems with the 802.11n draft standard are also fairly common now. For those that need connectivity in remote locations, a built-in modem or a cellular (WWAN) card are also options.

    Battery Life

How good is a portable computer going to be if you are only able to get 30 minutes of computing time on a single charge? Try to find the manufacturer’s listed battery life for the standard battery. Look to get a system with at least 2 hours of battery life under normal conditions. If you need extended time unplugged, look for laptops with media bays that can double as extra battery slots or have extended life batteries that can be purchased.

    Warranty Plans

Laptops take a lot of abuse and are more prone to breakdowns due to their portability. When buying a system, make sure to get at least a 1 year warranty from the manufacturer. If you will be using the system heavily, a system that comes with a 3 year warranty might be a better choice but it will cost more. Third party extended plans are not a good choice unless service is done through the manufacturer.
